New guy In desperate need of help.
Hi guys as said before I am new to this forum. I also have what I concider to be a big problem. I have a 1987 turobo II. I bought it with no motor. I let it sit for about 8 months. My intention was to buy a turboII motor and leave it stock. Last sunday I was doing my usual searching for my motor and I found it. I went the the shop that had it and he wanted $650. THe thing is that the motor was not the turbo II I had been looking for. It was a 90 cosmo motor. The intake manifold says 13b re twin turbo. The guy told me that the motor wold fit because I have a Turbo II intake manifold, so I would have to swich it and plug it in. The motor came with no turbos and exhaust manifold. I want to put the motor in how it is and put a single turbo on it.
Next problem. The guy that would do all the rotary work for us split. I found another guy and he told me that it could not be done. He said it would be way too much trouble!
He said that he has a 3rd gen and a 2nd gen.
Like I said he told me that it would be too much trouble and money to do so he said that he would do me the "favor" or trading motors with me. I would give my my cosmo and he would give me a turobo II motor. I dont know if he is trying to help me or screw me over.
He said to make it work I would have to buy a stand alone ecu and rewire the whole car.
What do you guys think or suggest. I know you guys know alot about these cars and you help would be very valuable to me.
Sorry If my explanation was long.
I need help before I make a mistake.
Thanks alot.

Do NOT trade that motor straight across for a 13BT block unless you need the car finished ASAP. He is trying to rip you off. It will fit your car, and with a minimal amount of fabrication. You're going to need a few things though, such as a fmic, turbo(actually, a s5 turbo will bolt up I believe), custom downpipe, ect ect ect. Are you financially able to drop a few thousand bucks and some weekends on this car? If not, I suggest trading it for the 13BT and cash, or something else. Cosmo motors are highly sought after and you should try to get something for it. Good luck with the car!

wow i wouldn't deal with the guy just cause of the sheer fact he's already tried to rip you off once the cosmo is an excellent choice for a replacment motor you should find someone who is willing to help you install it and do it yourself but for sure tell that other guy to **** off maybe offer him an N/A motor for his turbo II see what his response is to that

Well if I'm not mistaken my friend you have a 3 rotor on your hands 20B as opposed to your TII orginal motor 13B (2 rotor). Do you have the block only out of the Cosmo? (no manifolds, turbos, trottle body harness). Either way you have a rare motor in your possension. If you wanted to make that engine work you would have to invest 4k or so. but well worth the money.

uh....I'll trade you my N/A motor with 43K mi. on it for your cosmo motor. Sorry, I just liked the sound of that sentence. Good find, and since u let the car sit for so long, you have to do the work yourself to make it up to the car.

The 13b-RE engine is the lower engine for the Cosmo.
The 20B was the highend one.
The RE will not fit in the Turbo II unless you do a lot of modification.
The engine mounts do not match up.
The Turbo's are sequential and do not work correctly without the ECU which is worthless. So you would have to get a new turbo or modify them to run in parallel instead of sequential.
The ECU won't work because there are a lot of stupid things it monitors. So you will have to rig a TII ECU on it or go aftermarket ecu like Haltech.
It will need a front mount intercooler
It comes stock with a auto tranny I believe but the TII tranny will mount up.
There are many things like this.
If I were you I would buy the engine and then turn around and sell it. The guy selling it doesn't know what he has. Don't even try putting it in your car.
You might be able to use the money from selling that engine to get a Jspec TII engine which goes for around $800-$1100.

er
TonyTurboII has a 13B-RE in his car, and it bolted right in. He did switch to a single turbo and a haltech tho, so you will have to get all that done too.
