new engine is in. runs but not great, few questions

ok, i finished hooking everything up today in my 10AE. i got the new engine in last week and today finished the rest. the engine runs strong(good compression) but won't idle and runs a tad rough. i removed the acv and bought a block off plate from mazdatrix. is there anything specific that i should be concerned about keeping or removing when i removed that? any vaccume lines that i need to be concerned about or should i just leave them capped as they sit now. or should i reinstall the acv and air pump and get it running right before considering any modifications?

also, my next question is, where does the wastegate vaccume line hook into the rats nest? next where does the pressure sensor vaccume line hook into? finally, where and what color is the wire for the o2 sensor? i replaced it with a new one. the old one was just cut and laying there. any help will be most appreciated!!!

About the O2 sensor- Its wire has a coaxial grounded shield. Be careful to not short the center signal conductor to the shield when splicing it.

The waste gate & pressure sensor will work from any vac nipple after the throttle plates.

The twin scroll needs to hook up per the FSM.

If you don't already have a copy of the factory manuals, you can download from my copy at the link in my sig.

thank you! i know where the coax wire is but wasn't sure if that was the correct wire. i bought a bosch o2 sensor that is the oem type with the green connector. so, when wiring in the sensor, wire in only the center wiring, not the shielding, correct? i figured out the vaccume lines per the fsm when i got up this morning. looks like i'm going to have to reinstall the acv and the air pump today.

FWIW:
The Air pump & ACV are just for emmissioms on the S4.
Does Ohio test emmissions?
The air pump V-belt also helps turn the fan.

yeah we have emissions but i dont have to worry about it. the engine runs rough and i have vaccume leaks. do i need the air pump for the acv to function properly on the S4?

Yes - the ACV is nothing without the air pump.

ok, cool. got the acv and o2 sensor in and hooked up. no air pump. runs pretty good despite the stale gas and exhaust leak. i'll be putting the air pump in at next chance i get! car seems pretty flat and slow to rev until about 3K. after that, no problems what so ever.

i'll post somepics tonight of the almost finished project. i'm really pleased with the way that the car has come along. the oil pressure gauge seems to max itself out though. did it on the old engine. maybe the wire is grounded somewhere..
