new engine questions
i have just had my 87 t2 street ported and rebuilt by rotary resurrection, racing beat exhaust and custom tid. now its my understanding that with a new rotary you want to try as little to get into any kind of boost during break in, you either want to stay at atmospheric pressure or below. now with this in mind i have brand new 550 injectors. for the break in period is it fine to run the stock ecu and injectors as long as im going to be trying to stay off the boost? what rpm will the secondaries start to inject fuel? also ive searched for a front mount intercooler for the fc and ive only found that anything new is over 800 dollars. ive seen very cheap fd intercoolers and cheap piping kits on ebay for them. has anybody ever done a custom fmic or used an fd kit and some extra piping to do so? in other words cheaper reliable alternatives for an fmic.

Search for "break in period" or something to that effect. I think most people would agree that the first 500 miles on a rebuilt engine should be done keeping the rpms at 4k or lower. Secondaries come on at 3.8k.
As for custom intercoolers, a ton of people make custom ducting. Search harder; it's there.
