Arrow New Engine Question

Ok i may be wrong but my n/a 91 GXL has 71,000k on a rebuilt engine with a mild streetport i was told it wont last over 110000k because they just dont last that long, i want a brand new engine put in my car, what are the diff. types of engines, and how much do these run, and are rebuilds good??? im going to consider one of them if new engines cost too much, and is is very hard to pull an old engine and put a new one it, i have and engine puller and lots of help in doing so, im just wanting to get some info and not wait till the last minute, are there any good rotary mechanics around Waco TX???

Thanx any input will be greatly appreciated

with only a street port, there shouldn't be a very measureable difference in how long it lasts.... and n/a fc's are known to break the 200,000 mile mark. I don't think you should be so worried... get it compression tested and keep it maintained. that's all you need to worry about.

id keep the motor u have now till its compression drops too much. then swap it with t2. i dont think thers any such thing as a 13b new motor. u can get a reman.'ed one. but they dont produce new motors for our 7's. as vietfc said, u should be alright for a whle. Icemark will get on here and tell u that your motor will be fine as long as the previouse owner took very good care of it and u take good care of it and search the forums cuz this subject about motors has been covered. i just wanna say it before he does. mwahaha

For just the cost of two new rotor housings and an inclusive rebuild kit, you can have something damn close to a new engine...I rebuilt mine at 186,000 with these parts, as she had negligible wear on the side housings. I fully expect to go to 300,000 with this setup, although I might rebuild again before then to replace the bearings, which, by my measurements, should be the next items to hit limits down the road...

Yes, have extended family in Waco. Do a lot of research, buy your parts a little at a time since she's still running, get the rebuild video from Atkins or RotaryAviation, and you're set...It's nice to plan for for and purchase everything you'll need while she's still going- then you can do it on your time...I still had 90 psi on each rotor, but I had a week of vacation, all the parts and tools needed, so I decided to go ahead and rebuild her. No sense in letting her die first, then you get in a rush...
