I got my motor from RX7world.com, they have gone up in cost a bit, probably better than a rebuild on your motor if it has major damage and will last a while...Ernst is super nice and will help with any questions you have along the way..plus they do porting and 3mm upgrades etc too..built to your custom specs, your choice of rebuild or brand-spanking new-never-been-on-the-road-parts, of course the latter is EXPENSIVE, but comes with a good warranty.

Really? I thought it was around 2900 after the core.
Anyway, the 4k might have included installation.

However, the price of a rebuild is completely dependant on how much needs to be replaced.

Your local dealer knows dick about rotary engines and I can almost guarantee you they WILL **** you on the deal.
I work for the local mazdadealer and can tell you that we have 3 excellent rotary techs. One even has a rotary powerd race car. Don't clump all mazda dealers into the shithole.

A local lady has over 300k on her 90 N/A and has only brought her vehicle here. Some dealerships know what they are doing!!!!!!!

My rebuild listed for $2400 in through the parts dept (87 TII)

That had to have been for an FD right?

How many FC's have sold for even that kind of dough running?
I'll sell you my motor for half that :P

if the car still runs it could still be able to be rebuilt for reasonably cheap

and the stealership near my quoted me 4k$ for exhaust so 9k$ for a motor seems like a deal

naw man, it was for a TII motor. Supposedly new and installed at Mazda. I could have bought an FD for 9K.

I bought a factory reman. It lasted less than 5,000 miles, on tear down I found a scored up oil pump and the front iron was way out of spec.

VERY poor quality control!
