what's up with the color difference? the RX7 one is a beautiful red, whereas the other one looks orange-red. truthfully, i don't know what form of light the brake light emits, but the nice red one looks like (new-age) LEDs whereas the other looks, well, like it belongs on an eighties car. what's up with that?

oh, and its funny. this is one of the few "aftermarket accessories" the seven community seems to be taking well. and it's (most likely) illegal. well, i'd say it is definately illegal, due to any definitions of not blocking brake lights (or lights period), but there's rules the car company must abide by (ie visual distance). i'd imagine the brake light could still be seen at this distance; not only that, but at such a distance i doubt the RX7 could even be seen, just the light. that and there's 4 other lights that shine bright. not even all cars have a "3rd" brake light (or whatever its called). so, if one were to sue, you know they just don't wanna accept responsibility. so, in short, try not to have anything rammed in your ***. especially if its liable to sue.

As for the color difference, the one that is on my car is using stock bulbs...and in the pics where it isnt on my car, I just have a small flashlight shoved in there. That will account for the difference.

As far as actually making out the "Rx-7" from a distance, I cant be certain as I havent seem my car on the road with it in person, but in my driveway from ~30 feet back you can still make it out fine.

About the legal issue, I totally agree, in that it is illegal to do this. I list the part as for offroad use only, as you can see in my Ebay auction.

i think the legal distance is in the 150ft range, (a complete guess? maybe..) a little more than 30 feet. also, i account for the fact that light glares (in my eyes at least). i wasn't saying not being able to see it at such a distance was a negative side to your product (on the contrary, i like it and actually had planned doing something very similar when i had access to a vinyl machine), but meant it as the RX7 covering the light is nearly irrelevant since the light would still easily be seen. just so ya know.

I would be interested in a revers one.. for the simple fact that it emits more light... which I'm worried about.

Maybe a few pics of your car with the brake lights on.. form say 15 ft? Just to see the dimness ( I know the picture won't show actual light well, but you can compare with the brake light brightness)

If the "normal" (light emmitting throught the RX-7) light turns out to be OK brightness wise.. hey, IM ALL GAME!

Its a nice accessory, looks good, and is not rice IMO (tasteful)

EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT

Holy ****, just looked how old this thread is....
