is this needed?
i have a 88 vert, it has a free flowing exhaust....the previous owner made an exhaust all on piece from the engine to the stock mufflers (is this really a big performance gain?? i cant tell because i havent driven a bone stock vert)
this is the problem, my solenoid switching valve is broken, do i need it?? i have searched and came up with about a couple of threads on about rewiring and now im all confused!!!
someone please clear this up for me

I would recommend having it put in because I'm pretty sure its used for the 5th/6th ports on the S4 which means you'd be seeing a considerable drop in power without it. I remember when I gave my old S4 NA engine to a friend and he put it in his car tossing everything he thought he wouldn't need including that valve, he had nowhere near the high end pull that my car had with the same engine in. Also a friend of mine bought the exhaust pieces he has because they had the fittings for that valve so he wouldn't lose operation of his ports.
If you search here you'll see more of the same answers already provided, most of which say you'll lose operation of your 5th/6th ports which is equivilant to almost 30hp. Not sure how true that is, I read it here awhile ago when I was researching removing the one off my S5.
