need some insightful help.

Okay so i almost have my car running right but at the same time it seems to be a long way off.

this is a 88 gxl that has been swapped to t2. it is using all s4 stuff the ecu is a n333.

It will start and run but here is the breakdown. It will always start. but it wont run unless i unplug the maf sensor. then it will run. i have tried it with both a n/a and t2 harness i am not that good with electrical so if anyone has had this problem and figured it out let me know or if anyone has seen or heard of this and knows what to do hit me up. thanks again guys.

Just FYI a mod will eventually see this and lock the thread and possibly ban you as bumping isn't allowed in this section. What you need to do is find a local rotary mechanic or the closest reputable rotary mechanic and go there. Sounds like you have more issues than can be diagnosed online.

Put the non turbo EM harness on the engine. There are too many wires in the Turbo EM harness that don't mate with the non turbo Front harness for things to work right.

The fuel pump on a normal car won't run if the AFM plug is off. Kills the power to the fuel pump.

Try putting the non turbo harnes back on and then jumpering the yellow two socket fuel pump check connector to see if it'll now run with the afm connected up. Should be a Turbo afm and boost sensor for the thing to work right, even though the engine should run with a combination of turbo/non turbo afm/boost sensors. Just not good/well.

Do you have to hold the gas pedal down with the afm unplugged? Or will it run without the gas pedal with the afm unplugged.

Try another afm and or remove the plug from the TPS and see how things go. You must have the fuel pump rigged right now to bypass the afm or else the pump would'nt run.

Either na or turbo afm should run the car, just not the way things should be though.

my buddy had the SAME issue, but with an actual T2.
He eventually narrowed it down to a wire in the harness that was toasted. I dont think he ever fixed it tho.

it would have to be the under dash harness because i have used differnt engine harnesses with the same result.

here's what you do. Get a good condition T2 engine harness, T2 MAF sensor, T2 pressure sensor, T2 ECU and then plug it all back in. Double check all grounds, and straight wire the fuel pump to a toggle switch. Come back to us with the results.
