Need some info on Apexi intake

I want to buy the Apexi intake from the Rx-7 store and wondering if I would need anything else? Because I dont want to wait like 1 week for it to come and find out I need something else and Its for a 90 TII.

Thanks

I know its a dumb question but I want to make sure.

Save some money, make your own!! But if you really want the apexi There is nothing else that I know of that you need. Doesen't that "intake" just consist of a cone??

If I had a series 5 I could tell you exactly what to do. But you can buy just the cone for like $60 and if you need an adaptor(like the series 4s) then you can make one from home depot for about $5 or $10.

Oh and if you have the air pump still you might want to go buy a breather for it.

ok...
I made a full TID for under about $45
cone - $15
S4 adapter (which you wont need) - $25
Rubber connectors - $5-10
3" PVC 45 degree elbow - $5

Be sure to put a check valve or breather on the airpump if you are still running it, and there is also a line from the ACV that already has a small metal check valve in it. I found that with this cheap mod I got about 2psi gain, and after spraying the PVC down with some high temp paint it looks pretty nice.

Oh, you also need to do the homemade atmospheric BOV mod, or go buy a new one. The homemade one costs <$10 and works great, not too loud but definatley noticeable.

dcamcoTII:

You made your TID out of PVC? What size pipe did you use and what fittings? 2 45's or anything else? I work with PVC so it would be pretty easy to do for me. I also want to run a "fresh air" supply from the front of the car to the intake.

Oh and what is the BOV mod you are speaking of? Thanks alot.

Ryde_Or_Die: I used 1 45degree piece of 3" PVC. I am not sure what radius bend I used, but it was the widest one i could find. I didnt think it would make it to the airbox location but it worked perfectly. I simply cut off the expansion ends from the pipe and used the ruber connectors. (3"-3" from to the afm, and 2.5" - 3" for the turbo side). As far as the BOV goes all you need is a one way check valve, a small hose, 2 clamps, and a cork. unplug the bypass valve from the TID and cork up the TID (stock TID, if you have dont the mod i just explained you need no cork because the PVC will not have the hole in it) Clamp the small hose on the bypass valve (you can rotate the valve from the intake 180 degrees so it faces the firewall. on the other end of the hose put the clamp the valve on the hose. Mine actually rests on the firewall so the WHOOSH is louder. Im sorry if my explanation is confusing, just let me know if you have any more questions.

You might also want to look into buying a generic from ebay:

I just picked one up for $25 + shipping, it comes with the adaptor/extender... Of course I didn't install it yet so I can't really say if it's a perfect fit, but this same seller seems to have alot of them in stock and runs the auction pretty frequently... Good Luck!

Well about the TID mod, I have an intake on already so I guess it wouldn't have to match up perfectly like if I had the stock airbox. So basically make PVC go from the turbo to the AFM with as little bends as possible, right?
