Need some help with two problems i got tonight............

Two problems i have........

1) I took off my intercooler today, and when i went to screw it back it, i ran into a very strange problem, and potentially dangerous.
when facing the motor, the left two bolts went in fine.
when i attempted to put in the right(shorter) two bolts on the drivers side it sparked bad.
It sparked when the intercooler touched where is is suppost screw in. and if i quicly hit the who pieces together, the spark got bigger. so right now, im not even going to try to put the bolts in. and i cant figure out what this can be, im thinking i need to pick up rubber washers for between the motor and the intercooler where is gets bolted it. anyone have idea on this???

2) I my autometer airfuel gauge. red wire-power, black wire-ground, and purple wire O2 sensor. NO?
i tapped into the O2 between the sensor and where it gets brought into the harness. (right next to and below the elbow for the stock intercooler and where a aftermarket BOV would be. i grounded it under the shifter boot on the 10mm bolts. and i powered it from my acc. wire i use for my stereo.
now when i turn the car on, only the first light in the lean area comes on. meaning the first light on the left side.
and thats it! what can be the problem? im figuring it has to be something with the connection from the O2.
im going to finish this job up tomorrow hopefully, as of now i have a mess of wires and **** everywhere. i should take a pic u guys would laugh.

thanks for any help

Well, it takes a while for the sensor to warm up, mine takes about 2-3 minutes before it starts to function. (The AF gauge that is) The sparking could be that the rubber boot on your alternator came off and the positive lead from the alternator is touching your intercooler when you go to bolt it down, which is bad, so check that out. Good luck with your wiring

Good luck, you may also want to just look at the black post coming off the alternator and verify that the rubber boot on it isn't torn and touching the intercooler. That could cause you quite a world of trouble

couldnt the sparking be reduced by disconnecting the negative battery terminal?

you are hitting the alternator cable..... it should have a rubber cover. make sure not to hit it !!!!!
