need some help with FMIC/bumper setup
Ok I have a S4 and have the greddy fmic. Now I am going to cut open my bumper some and need some opinions. Should I just cut open the front the place where it sort of is stock (meaning just cut out the "grill" piece from the stock opening) or should I go up farther to right up against the molding? I tried to photoshop a pic of someone else's bumper to give an idea. Oh and I am using some black mesh for the grill to try and hide/protect the bumper. Thanks for any help.

Its not my car guys; I said I tried to photoshop someone else's car Anyways, Ya I am thinking the left one looks better, but I am fighting with my self about function. I know the more I open it for the intercooler the better off I will be for lower intake temps as well as engine temps. I guess I'll just do it like the left one and see how I like it, since I can always change that one. Really need to get a S5 bumper/moldings so the hole would only be where the core is, not showing the endtanks.

yeah I have the same fmic and I am cutting it out all the way to the bumper because our intercoolers go all the way to the top of the bumper so we are loosing over half of its cooling capacity because its coverd. Another forum member cut his all the way up and it looked cool. Plus I think it will let more air in to keep highway temps down a little more. I am going to test this and see what the temp changes are and post them.

1fast2 cut his past the molding, but he had a S5 bumper on it. S5's stock opening is just as wide as the core. But S4's are alot wider as you can see. On S4's you see the end tanks and alot of blank aread up top if you cut it all the way up.

I recently did this actually. Mine looks almost identical to the right one. For a long time I had it with the grill and everything. Personally I like the function of opening it up. I cut just below the molding. I personally like it, plus intake, oil, and water temps all saw a decrease.

Can you post a pic? Does it look bad at all? I just bought a new bumper so I really don't want to not like the way it looks.

I **** you not, but the car is almost identical to the one that's in the pic. (I don't have any recent pics). Except trim is black.
If your worried about your bumper, do what I did. Try the first way (left pic). If cooling is an issue or intake temps aren't as low as you'd like, cut up and try the second way.

1fast2's car had S5 bumpers on it right? And moldings or did he just put his old ones on there? Always wondered why the moldings were black. Looks like he painted them that was for some reason.
