Need some help
Hello as I said in another post I am very close to buying a very nice N/A 1987 RX-7 I finally got ahold of the guy and he tells me the engine is good but there is a problem with the fuel pump.. it runs for a bit then stopps. what would be the cause of this. It has no exhaust system at the moment so I dont think it could be clogged cats. He says the engine is good but we will see what the compression test says. What could cause this? I think it runs fine if you dont let it idle for too long. The guy has some knowledge of rotaries but I wouldent take his word for it.. would it be the fuel pump? or something more serious..
He said the engine runs strong but again I would have to see it with my own eyes
Anything I could check while I am out there that would maby get it purring?

OMFG I was so afriad that insurance will always keep me poor while trying to insure this car but I just got back from the insurance company (just happens to be my uncle) and they quoted me that the insurance on this car will be less than HALF of what I was paying for my 2002 Cavalier.. WTF! I thought it was going to be MORE! Everyone always told me it was going to be more and I will be paying insurance out of my ***!.. HA! I guess they were wrong!

Blah you arent buying a turbo Thats where the money is for insurance companies. With an NA you are just driving an old car in their opinion. When you insure the turbo you are driving a 'fancy super car'!@

Well I can forget about this thing.. the retard told me it was the fuel pump and he tryed to replace it and he also said that it could be the ECU so I asked him if he has ever checked the compression he was like Compression??? Why would I need to do that.. I knew right there that the engine must have been toast! so i checked it and front rotor has good compression and the back had NONE.. so this sucks.. anyone have a 1988 with a good engine for sale for about 800 bucks?

you may still be able to bring it back.
Pour about 1/2 quart in the rear rotor through the spark plug holes and see if after sitting for maybe 1 week to 3 days it may have compression.
The Apex seals might be stuck from sitting.

My insurace on my Turbo II is $38.00 a month. I thought it would be a lot more cause it's a turbo but nope. I know it has nothing to do with the topice but I thought I would share since you are talking about insurance.
