Need some expert help
I have been searching alot and driving myself crazy trying to fix the 7. It recently just stopped working. I was driving and I felt a little miss and a shuter and now it is real hard to start and wont stay running. I thought the fuel pump might have been bad so I replaced that with a walbro and still having the same problem.
When I turn it over it will start but I have to keep my foot on the gas to keep it running, however after it warms up a bit it will stay running, (very poor and rough idle)
When it is running it is really really rich, almost choke you after five mins in the garage. And It was making some weird clicking sort of noise coming from the resistor/relay.
So I unplugged the fuel pump, ran it direct off another 12v battery to see if it changed the idle but it didnt. It still is idling terribly.
I am wondering if the resistor relay could be bad. But if I hooked up the pump direct then it eliminates that right?
I just need some advice in where to look next.
Tomorrow I will check the timing and the plugs to see if they are fowled up.
The excess gas smell would mean unburnt fuel, if so then why was that resistor making a clicking sound
Any help would be appreciated and I hope this all makes sense.

check compression first
check plug firing with an inductive timing light
check all hoses for good connections/ vac leaks
check injector connectors
check AFM connector
etc...

Tonight I will check compression first and the plugs for good spark
Any oher ideas what could cause it running so unstable and rich at idle, or why the resistor relay is making the clicking noises?

I did check for vac leaks but not under the intercooler yet. I am trying to get some ideas before i tear it apart tonight. The nice weather is finally here and I want to drive the car.
