Need some advice from skilled builders

I just tore down a S5 N/A block I have to find the internals in more than excellent condition. I have a full S5 turbo manifold and turbo setup, E6X, GSL-SE 680's, and a walbro that I plan on putting together.

I was wondering if any builders have tried grinding out the center section on the end plates to make the 6 port more like a VERY aggresive large streetport 4 port (closer to FD porting size). I don't want to do any extra porting up or down, just smooth were the actuator rods were, remove the center section and put it back together. I already have the front iron and front cover tapped for the turbo.

Is their any benefit to keeping the 6 port in a turbo setup w/ the actuators not installed and working? The car will be mainly for drag.

From what I have heard, those ports love high RPM power. Like 9000 RPM+ power.

If you do do that, get your rotors balanced and race clearanced. Go as big as you dare on the exhaust ports.

The ports joined together will be larger than a stock 4 port. You have the ability to pump more cfm's into it and might give you a little more low end power and definitely more high end power as stated. Port matching the intakes might take some work as well but shouldn't be hard since its aluminum.

Like I said, the car is going to be built for drag so the longer I can stay in the powerband while still making power, the better. I have no intention of using the car on the street.

Already plan on having the rotating assembly balanced. More than likely scalloped rotors as well.

The intake wont be a problem. I have a old intake manifold gasket for the 6 port that I'm going to use as a template for the manifold.

Hmmm, scallops may give you quite a bit of overlap. I would put more stock into having them race clearance first so you can sustain that RPM with no problems.

Have you thought of just doing a 4 port N/A? You may be surprised by the results.

When I called a friend down in FL, he told me the same thing. He also told me that I'm probably going to be maxing out the 680's I have without even getting into boost. Looks like I have a couple things to re-think.

Does anyone know where to get a heavier than stock flywheel?

I maxed out 4 x 550s on my 4port N/A, so yeah I would imagine 680's would be stretching it.

What are your power goals?

Your best bet may be to get a aftermarket flywheel and trying to add weight. That way you can be sure that the flywheel is balanced to itself.

I'm amazed that the flat cylindrical end of the boost port flows well at all. The air hits a dead end.
Might actually do better to fill it up with Devcon and make a decent port out of it.

Any dyno #'s?

I was considering it after seeing some pictures of it ported out. their HUGE. And the closing edge looks like poop.
