Need some advice/help on a s4 TII -s5 TII swap

AS the title says. Im trying to make a checklist for all the things i will need for my swap. This is for my project car, but i have a 87 TII. s4 TII crate motors seem rediculously hard to find out here, and seems like most of the local guys are having to use s5 TII motors instead. I been buying s4 TII parts left and right and am thinking i should put that on hold until i know more about a s5 TII swap.

I spent the last hour typing in "s4 TII -s5 tII" , "s5 TII motor in s4 TII" blah blah blah. and I KNOW ive read some threads in the past but cant seem to dig them up again.

SOOOO...s5 TII motor in a s4 TII car. What is needed? This is what i read so far.

1. s5 TII motor, use s4 TII harness , re wire a few plugs from the s5 harness. Remove OMP, or swap with s4 TII omp. Use all s4 electronics. (If i remember right, alot of people prefer s4 electronics anyways because they are more accurate ??? am i right?") Oh and i have to swap the s4 TII and s5 TII front covers. Did i miss anything?

My question is, Is there a way to Use all s5 electronics ect, front cover ect. but just rewire the harness? would prob need a s5 TII ecu as well?

I thought some of the WA guys i knew did this.

I know these questions been asked a million times- But i want to keep myself from spending/ throwing away money on uneeded parts.

If anyone has links to s4 TII swaps to s5 TII swaps. please list them. Ill read them i promise!

Oh and by the way, Im thinking i might make a picture thread walkthrough of the process when I buy the motor- I think its about time the forum has one!

Any helps appreciated!

I can tell you right now the omp is different and Idk if you can swap them. Are you running s4 or s5 ecu if s5 then the omp will need to be hooked up or it will throw a code. Thats all I got I am learning myself just got my project 2 months ago. To bad mine is a 6 port NA

I think to swap them you have to swap the front covers.

Use only the S5 keg and intake manifold, and convert everything else over to S4 (including the front cover & WP housing). If you avoid mixing wiring/electronics, you'll make it far easier on yourself.

Me and Meximan was talkin about this in p.m.'s last week cause I just picked up a S5 Turbo block. I just got a S4 N/A harness, so this is goin to be a question for both of us, I'm not tryin to take over his thread. Is both side of the Harness needed Driver and Pass. or just the one from the pass. side of the car. Because looking at the FSM for the S4 wiring is confusing compared to the S5's wiring in the FSM... I'm figuring it out and when I'm done with it I'll probably be helping him with it if he needs a hand, cause I'm not to far from him...

Why did you bump this? The link provided contains everything you could ever need to know about your swap.

I personally used RR's wright up to swap an S5 TII into my S4.

DONT MAKE IT HARDER FOR YOURSELF, keep it simple stupid. S4TII ECU, US spec S4TII engine harness, S4TII injectors (+resistor pack if needed) Then just do everything listen on that link and your car will start.

unless your retarded or your swap is junk.. figured I would need a disclaimer

Well how important is it to use a s4 front cover I'm premixing now and dont plan on using the OMP cause my lines all broke. Can the S5 cover be left on with the OMP unplugged or should it be probably blocked off also...

If you're premixing, leave the S5 front cover and just remove/block off the OMP. If you're using an S4 ECU, it can't go into limp mode by unplugging or removing the S5 OMP.
