Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
I recommend Kevin Landers of Rotary Resurection.com
Even with shipping Kevin's rebuild would probably be less than your quotes, but check with him to be sure.

Would this guy be able to take your engine and do whatever has to be done to make it like a Turbo2?
(I have an 88 GXL...I believe thats the 6port 13b)

he's honest, very up front about everything and the prices are unbeatable.

I live in the Bay Area, over near San Rafael (94904) and theres a shop around here which will work on RX-7's you might give them a call.. Its a bit far of a distance for you but might save you some cash still.. Ill post the phone number for you tomorrow when I find it, its somewhere in car. Its called Bextrum (sp) automotive... something like that. Eh, its worth a shot. Its only an hour or so from San Jose.

Found it:
BECKSTROM AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE
70 WOODLAND AVE STE B, SAN RAFAEL, CA 94901
Phone: (415) 457- 6050
Not sure if they will do it, but I know they will touch RX-7's.

I'm going to send Kevin my engine hopefully this week.
He mentions he is good at making normal engines.
He probably could make a 13bt out of your 6 port NA but that's an odd and bad mix unless you change everything in the engine like 4 port and go with lower comp rotors. By then you could have just bought a 4 port TII engine.
