need a shift boot
Hey guys, I need the outer leather shiftboot for a 89-91. I might also need the little plactic surround trim that goes around the base. I converted from an automatic, and I don't yet have a boot on it. I'm not sure if the boot will attach to the surround that I have (off the automatic) or not. Mazdatrix sells the whole shift boot assembly (outer boot, surround trim and hardware) for like $120 OUCH Does anyone know if the "universal" boots that you see online and in mags will attach to the surrounds...or do they really mean "honda/acura"? If you have a set-up that you want to sell, let me know.
Thanks

I just cut up an old black leather jacket!! No joke!
I took of the old boot, cut it open so it lays flat, traced it onto another peice of leather, and cut it out! I just sewed it together to make the cone shape, and it is a lot better than the stock boot!
See pic in my section of the member gallery- it might show it.

In the Parts For Sale section, Researcher is selling Italian leather shift boots. I bought them, paid with a personal check, and recieved two fantastic boots within a couple of weeks. I am a very happy customer.

$5 + $1 (for thread) and an hour or two sewing; I made a sweet boot for both... can't beat that.

A guy with the eBay username of "betolle" or something along those lines, makes colored ones. Theay usually go for $25-35, and are in lots of different colors. I have seen white, red, black, and blue. You can also find OE ones go for like $10 on eBay.
