Need a second opinion

Well, here goes.

I just got an '86 Rx-7 GXL from my father. The Car has not been ran in 8 or so years, and has been garaged for that long. It has a lot of miles, and he finally ended up parking it because of the exhaust system needing to be replaced, along with numerous other minor problems.

I want to drive an rx-7, but I'm not sure if it's worth the time money and effort to restore this car... Like I said it's been sitting for a while so I'm sure the engine is gunked up, the interior is moldy, the exhaust system and electrical system need work (alarm shorting out the lights, maybe?) and new battery/tires...

So, I'm looking for any thoughts on how I should proceed... Buying another rx-7 is a possibility, but I am on a limited budget...

Thanks in advance.

Will it crank? What is your budget? should be able to do a lot with $2500.

Dont forget to drop the tank drain it and it would be good to use a couple gallons to purge the system.

First off all, after sitting for 8 years (or 5-6 months, for that matter) it would NOT be wise to try cranking it over!! He needs to take the correct measures (search).

Second. Why would he need to drop the gas tank? Theres a bleed hole on the bottom, just open it up (with a big tank under it, or park it over grass>.>), and let it all drain...cycle thru 1-3 gallons, and WOO you have a drained, fresh gas tank.

My advice would be to search for what to do with a car that has been sitting. Comes up all the time...mainly look under Aaron Cake's posts...
