need real help... GAS TANK LEAK?

ok so i smelled gas by my car this morning. walked around, checked under the hood (not the pd thank god), caught it real bad by the rear...

looked underneath, lo and behold theres gas on the tank. picture 1 is a picture i drew of it (no camera).

ok anyway, its the front (meaning to the front of the car) left (meaning driver side) corner that is NOT DRIPPING. i left cardboard under it all day, not one drop.

but this location is pretty much under the fuel pump... so i pulled the carpet up, and took off the access cover.... dry. no gas there.... so i started thinking its the 16 year old rubber fuel hoses... MAYBE. they are lookin a little wet in some places, but it wouldnt wipe off, and there was no smell test because of COURSE i smell gas, its on the tank...

i couldnt reach under the floor pan far enough to feel.. pic 2 is what i mean

i wish i had a camera

anyway... the tank is NOT dented or scratched at all, and the factory undercoat on it is 100% fine (except the gassy part, makes it smear real easy) and no i didnt run anything over

anyone had this problem? cracked lines? its reasonable, i just dont want to pull the tank without knowing what ELSE it might be... like what is hose #3 on that amazing peice of art? i thought the tank just had the feed and return lines (1 and 2)... but that one feels moist under the dotted box.

im confused and i dont want to drive with gas next to the 1800 degree exhaust

The third line is for your venting system- check and cut valve, charcoal canister, that kind of thing....

I would bet on the lines above the tank, you're just gonna have to find a way to get to 'em for a better inspection. Or just replace the rubber runs outright...

Check the rubber on the fill pipe. Run the tank low and see if the leak disappears.

well what i was just thinking, its been hitting 90 degrees here, and i just filled it like 2 days ago... could the gas have expanded and leaked out the evap tubing? i know its far fetched...

the fill pipe is basically like coolant hose right? its like 2" hose?

i guess ill have to drop the tank anyway to replace the lines... i might as well do them all...
