Lol. You guys are really funny "gansta ricer speak?" really!!? Wow that has to be the lamest thing i've heard in long time. The reason for this post wasn't so people can be critics on it but i'd appreciate help from those of you who aren' to cocky or anything, but i'd really just like to know information on clutches not on how i type or who should have used a condom or not. Now if you have information on where a could buy a stage 3 or 4 clutch i'd appreciate it. If you'd like a better idea on what im looking for you can try going to ebay and typing in rx7 stage 4 clutch. I hope that helps your idea of what i need.. .

In one ear and out the other because there's nothing in between? You need a stock replacement clutch to handle all that monstrous HP you have under the hood.

There is NO SUCH THING as a STANDARD for Clutches. No stage 3 or stage 4. That is all marketing hype.

Therefore, this stage 3 or 4 bullshit means nothing!

Get an Excedy stock clutch kit off ebay for like $130.00. Done!

Yes. In the marketing hype terms used by certain companies, a larger "stage number" means its, um, beefier.

But the point is it actually means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. So he is right.

What matters? Holding capacity and friction plate type. If the company can't tell you the holding capacity (friction plate type should be obvious....) then stay far away because that's a vital piece of info, not which stage number it is - thats just something a company will tack on to a product to make it sound "racey" to the kids who have only ever played need for speed in their lives.

Actually there's no theoretically about it. They mean absolutely nothing, its an arbitrary number. Holding capacity is what matters - and even that is only an approximation.

I think this guy has been harassed over his question enough. Why can't we just answer his question and allow him to be on his way?

To the OP, you don't need a racing clutch. Also, it seems you just want the racing clutch and don't plan to replace the pressure plate. Not replacing the stock pressure plate when installing a racing clutch just ruins your racing clutch.

Best way to go in my opinion is with a heavy duty clutch. Most companies call thier "a bit better than stock" clutches heavy duty. Replace BOTH the clutch and pressure plate. Doing so is cheap ($170) and gets things done the right way. This is what i have on my 1990 NA Vert and it is grabby as hell and NEVER slips during hard acceleration and shifting. I am suprised I don't have whip lash from the thing.

I think you'd be satisfied and happier in the long run by going that route.

Oh, sorry about that. Well, in that case, given this economy don't you think you should pay your 5 bills first before you spend money on your car?

Thanks jjwalker preciate it, but i was planning on buying the whole racing clutch and pressure plate but from what i've been reading it doesn't really matter the stage. From reading this i've been thinking about getting a exedy clutch i've always heard exedy was good but i guess i'll never know till i try it right.. The thing about me getting a stock clutch is that my brother has a second gen right now and he has a stock clutch and his slips when he races, so i just don't want to go threw that. I was planning on boosting it later on, i guess i'll just make the changes as i go.. By the way i've been forgetting to put that i actually have a racing clutch, but it's for a turbo so the pressure plate was to big so if anyone needs one i still have it. It's brand new (Grip Force) the disc is still wrapped and pressure plate was only taken out to try to see if it was the right one, then figured out it wasn't the same. Umm i bought it as a stage 4 but im guessing that doesn't really matter after reading the replies. The disc is a six puck with no springs. It's touchless and if yo ave any more questions on it just pm me and ill get back as soon as i can. I bought the clutch for about 190 and i wolud trade it for something alse another clutch for my all motor preferably, but just get back at me about that. Thanks..

I assume you bought the turbo clutch and PP and it is too big.

Just on a side note, be sure to replace your bearings and seals in there when you do the clutch.
