need pics and dimensions of PS system!
like the title, I need some close pics of the PS system and dimensions of gaps between it and the body... and other stuff.
why? I'm running my last pipe for my V-mount IC project. I don't have PS yet, but hopefully that will be changing soon. anyway, I don't want to run the pipe in the way of the PS system, because it would be a PITA to have to move it later...
can anyone help me?
here are some pics of how it is currently. as you can see, the tubing on the drivers side is not really going anywhere yet.
and yes, this was originally an old style TRUST FMIC kit.

well, everything on the drivers side so far I haven't done anything with. I just threw some pipes up there and clamped them, so they can easily be removed.
do you think I'll be able to sneak by between the pump and the firewall, or should I try and go below it? above it?
thanks
bump.

My opinion (;ile ********...everyone has one) is that the P/S pump and lines are going to be a bitch to fab around by just guessing and eyeing from some pics. It actually takes up a big chunk of that area as well as under where you see it from the top.
My best suggestion is to find a fellow rex in your area and have a good look under there hood for proper perspective or other method is wait for your P/s setup before finalysing your plumbing
just trying to help
hmmm after looking at your pics if you are down to just the one pipe then perhaps you could guess it in providing you have no other pipes etc going down below...tough to figure from here and a few pics.
dam i dont think I have helped at all nevermind

I just went out and looked at mine. I have ac, and the comp sits below the ps pump. If you are not running ac, you might be able go under the ps pump, but that is a lot of bends and might make changing spark plugs a pita.
Another opton might be to lower the pump to the ac comp position, but that is going to take a bit of fab work, especially since that bracket is aluminum.
Get you ps system in there first, then you will have a better idea.

bump. it looks like I might be able to squeeze a pipe through if I keep it up really close to the strut tower, and up at the top...
maybe just a good straight on pic of a S4 w/ a strut tower bar?
thanks
and yeah, I would just wait till I get the PS system, but I need to finish this before I will get the PS system, so thats not really an option.

The P/s has a connection running on the driver side that is going to mess you up. the blue pipe you have is right in the way. Looking at yours and looking at mine The fuse box on the shock tower has to be moved back like an inch and that blue pipe has to squeak by right at that level. If your P/S pulley had an apex (like in a turn, not inside a rotary) The blue pipe should almost be touching your P/S pulley. Running under the two lines on top of the pump yet over that one line that is lower on the pump........I know sounds like jibberish. Just trying to help

no, doesn't sound like jibberish...but I'm having a little trouble understanding. I know what is there currently will be right in the way. I just threw it up there with the hose clamps.
but, you think I could squeeze it by if I moved the fuse box over, and tucked it against the strut tower? or are those lines in the way?
pics would be nice.

Id say leave out the power steering altogether, as it seems that you arent going to have enough room. I have A/C and PS. I actually put the PS in myself. The rack was a PITA! But I got it a few bruised, cutup knuckles later. Ill see what I have as far as pics go when I get home. I dont have strut bar, but you may be able to see a little better. The best thing you could do is try to find someone around your area with PS and have a look under their hood. You cant see everything from a picture.

I think you could squeeze it by. fuse box over an inch and maybe bend the blue tube a little and yes attach it to the strut tower. There is a 3.75x3.75 (approx) square opening available to you. What is diameter of that bluepipe?
Sorry don't have time for a pic right now. Maybe this evening.

great. the pipe is 60mm(about 2.4 inches or so), so it should fit no prob in a 3.75 square opening... excellent.
yeah, it'd be nice to just look at someone elses car, but the only other people I know who have FC's are like an hour or more away. and I'm not leaving out PS. I'm going to be needing it.
andit'd be great if either of you could take some pics of that opening, so I know exactly where to go. thanks a bunch.

Bigretardhead....here are links to pics that I took of my 86 GXL (not currently running) that shows several views of what space you will have to work with:

I hope this helps. I know my engine area looks like *****....but youll have to excuse it. I am just trying to get the engine running again so that I can start an S4/S5 project once I get a nice rolling chassis.
