I need a part# for the circut opening relay. I have talked with 4 of the area mazda dealers and none know the part # for it, but they all say they most likly have it in stock because most of the relays where used through out the line over many years. a few of the parts stores have said they most likly have a standard one that will work but they do not have a cross referance to show what one that would be with out the mazda part number. I do not have one to get the part # off. so if anyone knows the mazda # or an aftermarket # please let me know.

The circuit openng relay is a bit different, in that it has two coils, either of which can close the relay's contacts. I've never seen one like that anywhere else, so you'll most likely need to get it from Mazda.

I don't understand why you need a part number though. Go to Mazda and say, "I want a circuit opening relay for a 19XX RX-7." It's their problem to track down the right part, not yours.

You could always just get one from a wrecker.

Is there another name for this relay? Where does it go?

My local Mazda dealer told me that there was no RX-7 made in '87. His computer showed '86 and '88 but no '87. I had to take him part numbers that I looked up myself.

there should be a number on the relay, like h270 or fb01 or something. most relays are xxxx-67-740 as a part number and the first 4 are usually on it


NZvert: if you look in the parts fische they list relays as nc or no, they sometimes will say what its for but not always, and a lot of times the picture isnt much help

I never had that relay. I bought a complete 88 turbo wiring harness for my project car off another club member. after installing it in to my car and starting to trouble shoot and mate it two my 1st gen body and exteranal things like lights switches ect ect. I started finding afew of the suporting harness's missing. not a problem I have extra wire and conectors from other parts car I have had or so I thought. I got most of it hooked up and working so it was time to atemp to turn the key to get it to turn over. well key turned and nothing. thanks to your help hailers I was able to take care of that. then time to do the fuel set up and start the car. I experanced a no spark problem 15a eng fuse would blow when was turned to start. It turns out that when I bought the harness complete not only was it missing some support harness but not all the correct relays were included even though I had recived more relays than came on a t2 I was a couple short of the ones I needed. I had to find out by taking the caps off the relays of the ones in question.

nz I am sure that new zeland your dealer net work is probly more in the know. here in the states for the most part the dealer suport for rotarys parts and service is a joke. there are a couple of good ones but they are very rare. it is a major reason mazda is so far behind the other japan auto makers here. may be with more rotary powered new cars this will change. it seams almost every time I go to the dealer I have to help myself or teach them first it is a real pain in the ***.

if anyone is up to helping match up the 1st gen light/turnsignal wiper switch assy to the 88 harness that would be great. I will post some pics in a bit

aftermarket part # is ry 389 from standard it was in stock and half the price. same denso part as mazda. I pluged it in and now I have spark. alittle too much in the coolant neck area. so that solves my issue with the fuse blowing now, fried wires for the coolant sensors.
