need opinions please

I have a 90 gxl with a blown rotror seal. Someone told me about a 2nd gen that was wrecked it HAS been sitting for a year. I don't know the year or nothing about the car I hope its a GTUs [ wishful thinking] Ill find out monday. I can probably get the car for 700 bucks My questions are. Is it worth 700? Should I try a compression test first? Should I buy the car. do the ATF treatment for a couple of days If It dosent work I can part it out? Thanks Everyone

For 700 bucks, I'd make sure by hook or crook that the engine worked. Before I parted with my 700.

The rest of the parts on the car are probably worth more than the 700 you'd have to put in
