Need opinion on what color to paint my wheels

Hi guys! Just want to get an opinion. I recently purchased a set of S5 TII wheels (mesh ones), that is heavily corroded, and painted over on the face with generic silver paint by the previous owner. I have sinced removed most of the corrosion, and want to coat it with paint to prevent future corrosion as well as making it look good.

So, what color goes with my 87 Red TII?

I've visited Duplicolor's site, and settled on their high performance wheel paint. They come in:

Bronze
Graphite
Satin Black
Silver
Steel

Anyone have experience with Duplicolor? Anyone re-paint their S5 TII meshies? Pics?

Thanks a million!

Would a flat black be better or gloss? I do have to clear coat that thing, so no matter what, it will have some type of gloss on it...

I think graphite or steel would look slick, but then again I'm partial to dark metallic grey shades.

I'd say bronze or graphite. Have you seen how sexy red sevens with bronze wheels look? *droool*

I love the look of gun metal and black. I currently have gun metal MR-7's on my black Turbo II and it looks great. Gun metal and black matches pretty much any color.

Cool, thanks guys!

Yeah, I like bronze too, but sometimes, depends on the manufacturer of the paint, their "bronze" may not be the same type of shade that I like. Some bronzes are too "brown" others too bright. I like the bronze in the pic above, it's darker.

Graphite and black are awesome too, but I'm just not sure how they will look with some clear coat over it...also, I noticed that most dark color wheels look better if it had a polished lip for contrast, which I think is too much work. What do you guys think?

Nice car Higgi....I've always been a fan of white wheels on red FC's.

I'd say anything but black. I can't stand the look of black wheels on anything other than a black car, even then, they have to have a polished lip to get it to look right IMO. The one thing that sucks about white wheels is that they look dirty REALLY fast, I've got white S5 TII wheels on my AE and they seem to get dirty as soon as I get done washing the car.

Good luck with your decision and post any pics when you get them done.

Its all about the graphite. The Dupli-Color paint is exactally what I used. I used like 5 cans for all four wheels but I wish I would have used one more.

I didn't use any primer. All I did was use mag wheel cleaner to strip the clear coat off the rims when i got them and then sprayed them. Just be sure to spray from more than one angle to get all the nooks and crannies.

Really? No primer? How long have you had it on? No probs?

I was reading Duplicolor's site, and it didn't mention you need to prime it or anything, so I thought maybe they left it out, or you're suppose to know that you need primer. So I guess you really don't need primer?

Let me know if you had any probs such as chipping or anything, I think I'll start painting soon, and oh, I think I'll go with bronze, want to see how it'll look, also something different.
