Need new alternator

Ok, I think I will need a new alternator for my new stereo system. So my question is how much would a 120-140 amp alt cost and how easy would it be to put in? Also can you damage an alt if you pull more power that it can supply?

I believe that Alterstar makes a 135 Amp alternator for $199. Or you can get an FD alternator (100 AMP) and adapt it to your car.

You gotta email them.

The price is $199.99 for an FC alternator wound to 135 amps. No core needed. Cant say if they are any good, so I went with an FD alternator.

cool thanks I just did.... I really need one. straight in is easier then FD swap I'm sure they would be no worse then store bought FD ones... if I went with the FD one. I'd want a mazda one which would be $$$....

I wish I had kept all the emails I had from them, I just recently deleted them. Sounds like a pretty good deal. My FD alternator wasnt all THAT hard to put in, but you are right, straight in is better..

If you pull more amps then the alternator can supply, for a long period, it will kill your battery, not the alternator.
