Need more amps

Hi guys I'm wanting to get more amps out of my alternator I know there's an option of doing and FD alternator with some modifications but I was wanting to keep it simple. I'm wanting to get around 120 Amps and the only place in the area I could find said it'd be around $600 to rebuild an alternator and that I should think about "getting on that Internet" any ideas?

There are a few methods to go about this. This one I can give you personal experience with:

105 Amp Alternator

It's less output than you're looking for, but it's very reliable and a very easy swap. Some people say that when you swap it you have to grind this, and cut that, and get another belt. When I did mine, it was almost plug and play, besides having to wire it and change the pulley. Plus, if it goes bad, they're literally a dime a dozen at the junkyard. Any

130 Amp Alternator

This one is a little more hands on in terms of making it fit, but is also more than what you're looking for. I've been wanting to do this for some time, just have to get the car legal first.

why do ppl say the fd alt swap is not simple? all you do is change 1 wire and get a pulley that fits the new alt. pretty painless for extra amperage you pickup imo

Chris - If you decide to do this, be sure you install a larger gauge wire, as the stock one will probably burn up.

That is a pretty dramatic warning.

Did your standard wire burn up when you upgraded your alternator?

Just checking.

^ I did not, for reference, and the alternator was fine for two years.

Just checking. Mine also did not melt smoke burn or otherwise fail, nor do I expect it to in the future.
