need info on turbo, wastegates, bov's and what is needed

i just aquired a blown T2 with complete drivetrain and am going to swap the motor after i get it rebuilt + ported. i am not going to use the stock turbo since its only good for bout 14 psi and not going to use the top mount intercooler. i will be getting a tubular exhuast manifold from ebay... yes i know there cheap but it will work, but i really do want to stay away from xs autochrome turbo chargers... they just sound cheap and ive never heard of them. might go with master power. what i need to know is do i need a wastegate? or a blow off valve? my horsepower goal is 350 streetable hp. ive seen the manifolds made for no wastegate and some made for wastegate? only other mods i will be doing is getting right of the AFM in favor of corksport's MAF setup, and probly a corksport re worked stock computer to run larger injectors and such, throttle body mod, rast nest removal, 255 lph fuel pump, full exhuast, front mount intercooler. so do i need a wastegate and blow off valve? and for 350 hp, if i do need wastegate what size would be suitable?

The type of turbo you buy will dictate if you need a wastegate or not, and it will also dictate the wastegate size (generally 38 mm or bigger the TIAL 44 is my fav). YEs, you will need a BOV for 350 wheel. I run the Greddy Type S.

yes you do need a wastegate and some type of a BOV or POV to releave intake pressure. again you will see this "Do A Search." a wastegate dumps extra exhaust pressure, bypassing the turbo so it does not excede more boost than you want / or more boost to blow something up. you see manifolds that have a place for an external wastegate and those with no place for them require a turbo with it's own internal wastegate. both work the same and are vacuum controlled.

as for the BOV you will need one. every turbo car has some sort of a way to releive intake pressure when you take your foot off the gas. it's just normally resurculated into the intake again instead of being exhausted into the atmosphere.

as for the sizes. that all depends on you. but i'd say a 40mm or 50mm WG would do your app nicely. don't forget a boost controller with all those mods.

EDIT: thanks Jrat, you beat me to it.

Dont take my words as gold cause apparently im a dumb newb POS but youll need a wastegate and a bov or bypass valve in any turbo chargered system. WIthout the wastegate your boost will just keep rising untill your motor pops and without a blow off or bypass valve your turbo will suffer from compressor surge and have a dramaticlaly shortened life.

The stock turbo has a built in wastegate and the TII also has a stock bypass valve. but if your gonna change the turbo/piping you will definitely have to replace them.
