ATF to fix smoking? Quick Question.

I was told to put ATF in the oil to fix the rings on the rotors, so that it doesnt smoke at high RPMs.... is this a good idea? and if so... how much ATF should i put?

I was also wondering... Will LUCAS **** up a rotary engine (injectors getting clogged or something)?

Just to be sure, check to see if your metering oil pump linkage is connected.
If it has come loose the MOP could be stuck at full flow.

Oil smoke normally only comes from worn out rotor oil seals: either the steel seal ring, or the rubber O-ring inside it.

The only additive that may have some temporary effect is STP or Motor Honey.

The only real fix is a rebiuld.

As I heard it, ATF is the apex seals version of "fix-a-flat". Only use is to put it in the actual rotor chambers to regain lost compression. But it's supposed to only be a temporary fix.

ATF is more for starting flooded motors and motors that have sat for a while. It can loosen and dissolve carbon and make the car run a bit better, but its not a miracle cure..

You might try to contact a Lucas oil representative to see if it is compatible with a rotary engine. I use it in the UMP modifed that I race with excellent results.

I heard that ATF acctualy wears the seals out faster, and its also discouraged from using to unflood because of that reason.
