NEED HELP w/RX7 TII
I just turned 17 and bought an rx7 a little while ago. It's a turbo II singe turbo and the car has great potential it just needs some work.
I'm in need of a stock turbo (mines seized) front quarter panels and a right passenger side door. Anyone have an engine seal kit?
The engine sort of did run, I think it has bad engine seals because when you fill it up with antifreeze and turn it over with the cap off it gurgles around. Has compression though.
Wish I could get a sponsor for this thing---I have very limited funds. Anyone on the east coast? I'm in Ma.
Car only has 60K. Help is greatly appreciated- thanks

i doubt thats the case...if u just turned 17 and this is ur first car.....do a search.....the anti freeze gargling is just cause the water pump is moving....which is normal.....again......make use of the search button.....its mighty useful

btw..u dont have to tell the people on a rx7 forum about how great this car is and how much potential it has...i think we've made that conclusion long ago.....now that i think of it...my car is almost as old as u...

I have a jeep and I'm really mechanicly inclined, rebuild snowmobile and motorcycle engines alot. It sort of sounds like the antifreeze is boiling sort of , makes a gurgle noise and when you pull the cap off some shoots out when the engine is warm.
I can put new seals in it, just need to do a search of a seal kit and used turbo. It seems when you fill up the damn water filler all the antifreeze seems to disappear and when you turn it over more air comes out and it wants to drink more so I drained all the antifreeze, pulled the plugs and grounded them and turned it over and a mist of crap came out.
It started and ran at 2500RPM for about 4 seconds and shut off twice in a row.
Is the top rotor plug hole that's closest to the FRONT of the car trailing plug hole #1, and the one to the back of the car #2 ? And same for the leading bottom?
The manual didn't mention that. Maybe I should drain the oil and see what's in it...
I can pump out the money over a year to make this car go, Just wondering how hard it is to put seals in it, and pull the engine, or does it just take a while to get the engine apart..
I've been reading other threads and FAQ and I'll keep searching.
I'm right near Springfield, Ma
All I need is a parts car or parts.
Thanks

I'm occasionally in the Boston area for the winter time, I'm up in Syracuse right now though. Oh, and with the cap off and turning the car over the water shouldn't gurgle, unless it's damn near empty to begin with.

and depending on the amount of bubbles you have a compresion leak into the coolant system...bet way to find out is a carbon monoxide detector...pulling the engine and rebuilding it will run you $1200 at least....the rebuild kit is about $1000 or more...get one(engine) from rotaryyresurrection..he has them from a $1000 up

First thing I'd do is read this forum and teamfc3s.org for awhile. There is a wealth of information - not necessarily answering your questions but helping you understand your car better.
As far as the coolant goes, it may be "burping" or purging air from the system. If it has been burping for 2 weeks, and you've been adding coolant, then it may be something else.. If the engine runs strong and doesn't overheat I wouldn't worry about it too much.
Maintenance First! Oh and S4 motors (86-88) are cheaper than S5 motors.. I know a guy who sells S4 motors for $750. These are J-spec motors and you can buy them, with a good shortblock, and sell everything you don't need (intercooler, injectors, etc etc etc). And make your money back - if you need an engine.
