need help w/ heater core

I need to replace my heater core (core is bent). How do I go about it to replacing it (step by step)? How long of a process does it take? How much will it cost? what is the actual size of heater core (driver side)?

Everything you want to know should be found in the FSM and Haynes manual. If you can't find it in the s4 FSM, try the s5 one.

I have been told you can get it off without removing the dash, actually.

I don't know of a way to change it without removing the dash but if you can do it then great. The dash will never be the same after you take it out. Plus you'll break stuff even if you are super careful.

I was able to reach the heater core without removing the dash. Is the heater core the one that connects to the heater hose? Im asking this because my friend told me its not the heater core but the water valve. Which one is it? Which ever it is , I am still having trouble with it. I used an advanced search to find the thread w/ the information, and one person said remove 3 screws and the other said 2 screws, but it won't come off. It seems to be connected to more than one thing. I need help to know how this is done.
