Need Help With Sunroof

My sunroof recently decided it wasn't going to cooperate. It is stuck in the up position but won't roll back and won't sink down. It moves maybe a half inch forward and backwards but thats it. I can hear the motor working but it doesn't move. Any ideas on what I should check? Thanks

You really need to "search" the topic. But being a nice guy, I will give ya a few tips. The fact it moves means the motor is working. Since you did not say it only moved on one side the good news is maybe the cables are not broken. So, what to do next? Dude.. its loaded with dirt. You clean the **** out of it.

If possible, find a friend with a high pressure compressor and blow the crap out of all the channels and the spots you can't reach with a pinky. Next, even in the absence of a good blow, clean every thing your fingers, a rag, and Q tips can reach. I used WD-40 but any good stuff to absorb dirt and grime will work.

Now, here is the well kept secret most folks do not admit. As a great club, we think we should solve our problems ourselves. Discard that thought for a moment. While you lightly push from the inside, have a buddy pull the sun roof back with even pressure on both sides of the sun roof. I bet it begins to move by itself. Geeze I am a genious. Now clean every cranny you could not get to.

Got that done right? Now, remove all the WD-40 by spraying with a white lithium lube spray. Move the roof back and forth many times, removing the WD - lithium spray intil all the crud, dirt, grease, and bugs are gone using rages and Q tips. Do not leave any WD cuz it will attract dirt better than the lithium

Re-spray with the white lithium. Bet it runs smooth.. yes? Mine took about 1 hour. Perfect now.

Good luck.

Thanks... and I did search. I was just asking to see about if maybe something was broken. Thanks again.
