NGK BUR7EQ x2 (Leading - Lower holes)
NGK BUR9EQ x2 (Trailing - Top holes)

I picked some up at Napa $6.50 a piece.

It takes a standard spark plug socket, I forget the size. Do one spark plug at a time so you don't mix up the wires. The #1 rotor is towards the front of the car, the #2 is in the back. Trailing = Top, Leading = Lower. Put a dab of anti-seize on the spark plug threads when you install the new ones.

No it can't use standard piston engine plugs.
No there aren't extra special plugs that will give you more horsepower.
No the racing plugs shouldn't be used in a street car.

Also give this a read through if you haven't already.

(Surprised this isn't in the FAQ)

depends on which ones you got

if you put BUR9EQ's all the way around, the car will start harder, and probably make a little less power

if you put BUR7EQ's all the way around, the plugs could over heat and pre-ignite the intake charge

Just buy the right ones

Many people recommend running 9's all the way around on motors that have a large streetport. The leadings might fould a little faster, but it will help eleminate preignition. I don't know about them lowering power, though.

Very timely info for me...thanks! Mazda service told me to get NGK and that I need 4. I was looking to see where I could find some in stock that I could pick up tomorrow. A friend is going to change them for me ( I wouldn't even know where to look for them!).

I just located NGK spark plugs in stock at Lordco, but they want $12 (that's Canadian) each for them! AND they are trying to tell me I need 4 leading and 4 trailing. Idiots! Even the guy at Mazda told me they should only be about $8 each.

If anyone in the Vancouver BC area happens to read this and knows where I can get stock at a decent price, please let me know!

Cheers
