Thumbs up need help, rebuild is in but...

Ok heres the story. I purchased a rebuilt motor with about 5 miles on it. the rebuild consists of 3mm seals, gsl-se rotors for 9.4:1 compression, and a large street port. heres the problem im running into:

1) the only way to get it started is to add atf. my question is will this go away as i drive it a little and it breaks in?

2) second question is when i can get it started it idles around 1000 when i push in the clutch it dies if i dont give it gas and feather it.

any suggestions to either problem guy s?

the atf will be burned up within 10 minutes (assuming you use about a capful for each face of the rotor.

wait till the it runs without adding atf. when that happens, check your TPS.

Try starting it with your foot in the accelerator any ported motor will have start up problems. It also sounds like you might have a vacuum leak somewhere.

When I tried to start my rebuilt engine, it wouldn't start unless I floored the gas until it started. Once it did, it wouldn't hold an idle. After a couple of times of doing that it started to hold an idle out of nowhere.

I have been told that this is common, and it will do this until the seals sit properly.

This isnt what I would expect from a engine like this.
large streetport or no.
It should hold idle.

Especially if the cold start kicks in.

Check everything from the manifold seating to the vaccum lines.

you did REEPLACE all the vaccum lines right?
You didnt put the hardend ones back on did you?

that alone might do it.

Otherwise, you have vaccum leak and or a sensor not hooked up.

spend at least 30 minutes rechecking everything.

also I have seen injectors get installed and then not seated right.

they should spin freely in their seats.

If not theres a problem right there.
