yeah, people talk and talk about wanting turbo kits but when they're faced with a realistic price tag for something that includes rudimentary (yet still insufficient) additional engine controls, they suddenly don't want it anymore.

and you still haven't done anything about the fuel pump, or the N/A clutch/tranny/rearend, and if you're lucky you are starting off with a GXL or other model that has the Turbo-sized brakes but usually you're not...

i liken turbo kits for N/A to be like 20B swaps. everyone talks about it but few people bother to actually do it. (and in the end it's not really worth it except to have something fairly unique)

i recall the kit cost something like $1800. a T2 is not worth $1800 more than a N/A. you could simply sell your N/A and buy a T2, which of course has the proper fuel and timing controls, as well as a turbo clutch, turbo tranny, turbo diff, turbo fuel pump, guaranteed to have the bigger brakes...

As far as i know it didnt, he joked that it blew up but that is all

There's a sticky at the top done by aaron cake, he put a turbo on his n/a, not as easy as it sounds but he did it

I know about the stickies, I paid attention to the project throughout the whole buildup, but he said something about the tranny popping and I never found out if he was joking or not.

Wouldn't doubt it, it's fairly easy to break a N/A tranny...

My car did not blow up. Livin' large @ 10 PSI. It did, however, rip a transmissin to pieces...

While the NA transmission is a lot stronger than most people think, mine didn't take too kindly to me flooring it in 5th at 90 MPH boosting to 10 PSI while it was low on fluid...

it's not that it shouldn't be done, it's that from an economic perspective it's pointless. it's cheaper and easier to just sell what you have and get a T2, or at the very least, buy a wrecked but running T2 and do a complete drivetrain swap.

dyno is pointless when your car is blowing up left and right (spitting trannies out counts as blowing up).

lol, naw, it's all just what you're willing to spend. like your reply above, you said so yourself that $1500 was way too much money to spend... you are not alone in that opinion, since people are lined up with cash in hand NONE DEEP.

That price seems rather reasonable to me. That comes after trying (unsucessfully) to piece a kit together. I emailed them with some questions. Anyone bought this kit?
