need help on power loss during 5-6k rpm

First off here is what i got. i have a 88 GXL with a JDM TII engine swap. i have a 3" turbo back exhaust, then goes to 2.75 at the Y-pipe and i have a S-afc2 . all my emissions is removed including AC and PS. i am running my top mount right now till i get my FMIC pipes beaded.

now here is the problem.

when i am racing my car will boost like it should, as soon as i hit 5K RPM the car kind of losses power and stops pulling hard, but as soon as i hit 6k RPM it pulls just like it should again all the way till red line.

what could be my problem? let me know if i need to give some more detail.

i have tried leaning out those rpms with the s-afc2 but it doesnt seem to do much?

wait there.... do not lean it out, especially at those rpms, especially at boost is first off what I have to say. As to the 5000rpm cut out.... that's wierd man. Maybe an injector issue? It doesn't sound like fuel cut, I'm sure you've got an FCD right? ECU? Try giving it more gas at those rpms instead of leaning it out and see what happens.

alright, ill try giving it more gas. umm and yea i got a FCD but i have a stock ECU for now, saving up to get a new haltech. if it was an injector issue what would it be? would it be leaky? or not injecting fuel?

dunno, it seems like a pretty wierd injector leak if it is one; it probably isn't on second thought. Wait till someone more enlightened than I chimes in, just don;t lean it out.

I have done pretty much your exact same swap (thank you for answering my questions a while ago you were a big help). The 5k sputtering brick wall happens just as much as it doesnt happen with mine. Does your 7 always **** its pants at 5k or does this only happen every once in a while? This has been driving me crazy since i swapped the turbo motor in. Somebody has to have had this same problem and fixed it somehow. It is definately frustrating.

Oh and it is also not a lean issue either. I have a narrowband hooked up and it stays in the rich position like it always does pulling from 1-7k. So i guess i am saying it does not seem like a fuel issue. Possibly spark with na coils? I have no fing clue.

Pull off the ECU connectors and check the wires for resistance...a friend of mine had frayed wires that were grounding out and causing a high rpm hesistation.

Ok..I am not "versed" on TII stuff.Hell I just Know waht a Turcbo looks like..But,I do read alot..If that Helps!..Now,if you have put an a Bigger exhaust,"they say: that you should also Port the Waste gate,Or else it does something Wonky to the Engine(like eventually Blow it up!)..am I making any sense hear if it sounds like your Problem..(no modded wastegate?).

forgot to post after i fixed the problem. Shortly after these posts my car left me stranded on the side of the road. It just quit on me. It would start and run for 3 seconds then die. It ran a little longer with carb cleaner in a vaccuum line. This is the classic "afm poopin its pants syndrome" so i swapped it out for my 20 year old na one. Not only did the car start and run beautifully, i have not hit the 5k brick wall since.
