Need help with intake/mass flow sensor...
So I just bought an Apexi Cone filter set-up:
http://compare.ebay.com/like/3705957..._lwgsi=y&cbt=y
I installed it yesterday but realized that it didnt come with any piping, and it used my stock mass flow sensor. So I removed my stock shrouding, intake, box, and filter. I set up my new one by attaching it to the same plastic pipe that was attached to my mass flow, then to my new filter. Im about to buy this:
http://www.andysautosport.com/mazda/...r00000653.html
to replace my stock plastic pipe, (although I wanted metal piping and couldn't find any online). But I heard its not good for your ECU to change the intake set-up/piping because your mass flow wouldnt be able to proberly regulate the air going through.
So, where is a good place to find:
A. Good metal piping for my set-up
B. decent aftermarket mass flow meter.
thanks for the help guys, and remember I'm sorta new at this, don't tear me a new one, just some helpful thoughts or links please.

A:
Corksport makes an aluminum replacement for the OEM intake pipe...but using that stuff you linked might be an issue because it can change shape while the car is running.
some people go to homedepot or a hardware store and just buy a 1 ft long 45° bend pipe and use that as an intake pipe...or you can search ebay for one of those.
B:
none. you shouldnt change the AFM if you are using the stock ECU. the only way to remove the AFM would be going to a standalone ECU.

A) Don't do it. Corksport is the only place I know that sells a replacement pipe. That universal plastic bag will not work on your car anyways.

B) Absolutely not. The 2nd generation uses an airflow meter, not a mass airflow sensor. They're 2 different things. The AFM is a vane-type (which is a flapper attached to a rheostat). A mass airflow sensor uses a heated wire in a calibrated housing. The only time getting a different intake for a car matters is when they want you to remove the heated wire from the calibrated housing and install it in a different intake. For instance, the last generation Toyota Celica. Even a brand such as K&N couldn't figure out that changing the diameter of the pipe changes the air velocity, thus giving the mass airflow sensor an incorrect reading.

Putting a cone filter in place of the air box actually makes it a "hot air intake". Unless you build a box around the filter and pipe in air either from behind the headlight, or by using a vented headlight panel, it's counter-productive.

make your own pipe, that plastic piece of **** is.... a piece of ****, go figure.
corksport intake kit is a step above the plastic piece of **** as it doesn't even really clear the strut tower even with the half a mile they were given to accomodate it.

I'm sorry, my brain is having trouble parsing this. Are you claiming that the Corksport solution has some sort of fitment flaw?

I dont want to go with corksport because im not a sucker haha. There is no reason I should have to pay like 300.00 for that pipe that i would have to modify anyway. I'm probly just going to make my own pipe, unless someone els has a better idea. The corksport one is only for kids that have no imagination and lots of money.

I hope people don't really spend money on that plastic ducting for an actual intake pipe to the AFM. What a joke for the CorkSport piece. These companies rape people for **** you can make for a fraction of the price. And if you can't make it... I'll make it for you.

unfortunately yes, the flange is paper thin and leaks and it is so shoehorned into the space it takes up that you scratch the hell out of it just to install/remove it all while it barely clears the strut tower.
