Go buy a 600ftlb IR impact gun for like 200$ I know I know and when you do you will reply back saying thank you so much that was the best investment I have made yet on my car. Just do it!

Oh yea it will be 1/2dr so you will need to get a 1/2 to 3/4th adapter.

The flywheel is 300ftlbs but I swear the last motor I tore down was on more then that. Took like 30seconds with my 650ftlb gun. And was unsuccessful with a 3/4dr breaker bar and a 3ft pole so yea.

you can rent one or take the motor to like a tire shop, talk trash about how torqued it is, give them the socket and say here's a challenge.

There are places that rent air tools, I dont know if they'd have a gun beefy enough for the job but its worth a shot.

edit: Beat me to it

like ive said before, load the engine in the back of a truck and head around town to local auto shops, eventually one will be nice enough to zip it off for you.

i had the same problem! i solved it by welding two bolts to the nut and placing a iron rod between the two bolts and twisting the rod. afther a lil elbow gres the nut was out.

I bought this: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=93124 70 dollar impact wrench last week and it had no problem spinning the flywheel nut off with the regulator set at 90#s.

Now the E shaft nut was a different story.

you guys don't know how easy you got it, try breaking most FD front e-shaft bolts loose. i almost have to lift the engine up with a person holding it down on the engine stand before it comes loose and that's after heating it up for 5 minutes.

My 1/2" air impact would not get it either. I rented an electric 3/4 " gun for like $12 for four hours. Got it off in less than 2 seconds. Any Tool/Equipment Rental place should have what you need.

Now that Harbor Freight 600plus ft/lb gun looks like a great buy for a weekend mechanic.

2 different engines.

The E shaft bolt is from a 13B-RE. I heated it for a few minutes with oxy accetlyne and still couldn't pull it off, I didn't want to damage the bolt so I ended up taking it to a friend with an industrial impact wrench.

I wish I wasn't so cheap. I'd like to pick up a socket and use my 1000lb/ft reverse impact gun (IR/Matco) to remove the nut, however the Mazda tool is much cheaper and I'm strong enough to use it.

My FC's clutch is making a weird-*** clicking noise when engaged (171k miles, factory clutch/PP) so it's way overdue for some lovin'. I have a lnew ightweight fly and factory clutch in line for it.
