Exclamation NEED HELP FAST( TII TRANNY into NA)

I have an 88 vert. My Throw out bearing and pilot bearing and the material that the clutch plate puts pressure on are all shot. I am doing an engine swap probably within the next year or so. Ive heard that a TII tranny can be put on a NA motor using an Auto Driveshaft....this true? And if ANYONE has ANY TII Trannys or ANY of the parts that i need for sale........please let me know ASAP

Yes, it's possible, I accomplished it fine with the automatic driveshaft, however some say it comes out to be about an inch or so short. I guess you can try it, and if it doesn't fit, get a driveshaft made, shouldn't cost too much.

No, the AT driveshaft (aka propeller shaft) is too short, and the fittings are the wrong size. The dimensions are in the service manual in the Propeller Shaft chapter:

Actually, the fitings fit perfectly fine, it's the length you have to worry about, some say it's too short, yet i've got it slapped in mine, but that could be due to my lack of an engine and my tranny held in place via a floor jack

Mr Aviator is correct. The drive shaft is definately too short and will not fit. Believe me I did this. The T2 trans is approx 2 inches shorter than the Auto Trans. The auto driveshaft is therefore 2 inches too short. I did this and have a functioning car. If your motor is not in the car you can't tell.

Ah, I see what you did. You just shoved the AT driveshaft into the TII transmission and thought that it fit. Yes, the collar is the same size, but the spline gear inside the collar is not. You also don't realize that the driveshaft is about 2" too short because your driveline is not attached. The automatic transmission is longer than the NA and TII transmissions, so this is why there is a length difference. Nice try, though.

FYI for others, the NA and TII driveshaft differential flanges are also a different bolt pattern.

By the looks of it on that website, the spline gears are the same. However the driveshaft still might be shorter, I guess I'll know for sure when I get the engine in...

Ah, it does look like the AT and TII splines are similar. However, I think it's pretty obvious that the shaft lengths are different.

Yeah, I know the lengths are different, but what about the rear end? Is the rear end longer/shorter? Or are they all the same size? I'll have to measure my 3.9 & the 4.1LSD to see. Perhaps they are different and thats why it seems to match?

It's the transmissions that are different lengths. Maybe you have a different rear end, but the 2Gen NA rears are interchangeable, whether 3.909, 4.10, or 4.33.

Hmm, I know the tranny are different lengths, was wondering if just maybe the rear end could possibly be a different length.

Tell you what, why don't you do everyone a favor and measure the differentials yourself, and then post the results? That way we can end the rumor of the magical AT driveshaft swap.
