My car did the same thing on left turns only and it was the fuel pump. Actually, there is a nylon fine mesh screen on the pickup end of the pump (in the gas tank) that gets dirty enough to restrict fuel flow. When I removed my pump, I discovered that mine was missing altogether. Someone before me had cut costs (or was just an idiot) and replaced the pump without installing the screen. I replaced my pump with a Walbro 255 lph pump that I got from eBay. This is a popular pump used on these cars. I think I paid around $100 for mine shipped. You are probably having your problems more often on less than a full tank. Try filling up all the way, if it goes away but returns when the tank is closer to empty, it's likely your pump and/ or pickup screen.

When you think about it, it makes perfect sense about the pump. As I remember, the pump is mounted on the driver's side of the tank. When you turn left, gas is sloshing away from the pump. The pickup screen holds a small amount of fuel to help give a reserve amount for the pump to work with until you complete the turn. A full tank is less likely to slosh enough fuel away from the pump to cause momentary stalling. Hope all this helps.
