AB need help with aux ports wiring

i just got a 90 gxl last night. this is the first fuelie and first 6 port i've played with. anyway, someone removed air pump and port solenoids. they are wired up but i want to double check if they are open. what position should it be in to be open?

Unless someone "wired them open", which should be visible, the default position is closed. On S5s, the actuators pull the sleeves to the open position, so check if you can press them in at all. In = closed, out = open. (note that on S4s, this is the opposite)

It always seemed to me, that you could find the 6pi solenoid on the engine. Then remove the two vacuum/air hoses on it. Then couple those two hose together.

Then start the engine and look at the 6PI actuators. The rods should have extended (opened) on the actuators, proving they are not stuck. Then while the engine is idling, decouple the two hoses and the rods should retreat into the actuators (closed).

That's for a series five car.

That proves the actuators are not stuck. But then you have to ask yourself "is the ECU sending a ground signal to the solenoid to open them when required???".

You could do that by running meter leads to the elect plug and watch it while driving or rig up a LED light with long wires and watch it or???? other ways.

The airpump working is a requiremet for doing that. And the vacuum/air hoses connected right.

No real idea. If you buy plugs, just buy the LEAD two plugs only. Waste of money on trails for this problem.

AFM elect plug has to be on the AFM.

Supposedly the series five has a deflood feature where you hold the pedal to the floor to kill the fuel injection but keeps the spark a going.

Maybe if you remove the two lower LEAD sparkplugs, that would be a good time to finger test the compression. Hold you finger over one plug at a time while someone spins the engine with the starter and FEEL if the two pulses are similar or not. If similar, that's good. IF one plug hole seems to have a big lack of puff during the spinning.........not good at all. Your going to remove those two plugs anyway, so why not do the finger compression check while there? Yes.

You have spark, or at least did have spark. Got fuel in the fuel tank. Shoulda started with a two second or less spray of starter fluid in the airfilter/snorkel. All the air ducts/hose need to be on.
