There is an adaptor plate that you put on the AFM to make it accept cone filters. Then you have to make a cold air box, because just having a cone filter will do nothing because of how hot the engine bay gets.

there are adapters you can buy for the AFM. go to any RX7 parts site and most will have them. it just bolts right on the front of the AFM and turns that rectangular shape in to i think a 3 1/2" outlet (not sure how big) so you can attatch a ram air, or if you want custom cold air. please dont run the car without the AFM, i had a truck, my first car i did that to and it just fucked the engine with in a few 1000 miles. (blown headgasket)

here, the fourth product down, the bonez MAF adapter, i know its 60$ but it will save you alot of truble. trust me

I got my adapter and POS filter off of ebay for $20 shipped. Just using it as a bandaid untill I build my cold box.

You could always go full bore and put a holley or delerto carb on. To get you functional, you need a functional air flow meter. Anything past that is not as critical.

You can also find the adapters are the local wrecking yard. Check older BMWs.
