Question Need help 13B compression

I am a newby with rotory engines. Is there an alternate way to check the 13B engine compresion other than using the recomenced Mazda compresion tester?

Take out the spark plugs and crank the engine. You should hear three even "blups" If compression is high. It's not a very reliable way of checking it, but it'll tell you if you threw an apex seal or something along the lines of that.

you can use a normal compression gauge, if you remove the check valve, remove the trailing spark plugs, and put it in there.....you should on an N/A get thre bounces to 90, 85.....or at the least 80......after that your getting very low....

90 is pretty low too, and should be considered ready to rebuild.

Don't forget when testing compression on a rotary engine you must test at WOT or you won't get a good reading.

they should all be above 90 psi, ideally 120-130 psi range is great.

you can hear the fweeps without a battery by turning the motor by the front bolt..... but thats a REALLY poor way to do it, but if a seal is gone... you will notice a difference.

first disconnect your ignition, and later plug the compresion tester into the slot.

And try to start your motor, the compresion tester say your psi.

But if you try to do this with the ignition connected then your psi is no real.
