I just rebuilt my EM harness, in order to pass smog. I ended up just replacing the plastic connector housings on the injectors, and coolant temp sensor. I also rewrapped most of the outside insulation, in the process. I was really happy with the results (the harness is basically perfect now).

When you get a quoted price for a _new_ harness, please post it. I have a feeling it's going to be over $500. Good luck.

Hold on price of a harness? How bought forty bucks and eight hrs time.. This I promise is the best option. A five year old could do it. Hey Im new and did it in a day. Its insulated too. you can get injector piggy backs at auto zone 3 bucs a peice . solder , heat shrink, Home Depot sells great insulation Its silver, very thin, wraps very nicely, and heat proof, fire resistant. My torch only blackend it , then it wiped clean Dont forget zip ties . Most of the wires should still be good, just cooked under the UIM.. shorten, re route, ya know pretty it up how you want, I did all the wires in the engine bay. then insulated everything. Its functional and looks better than you could imagine. Its easy work just, tedious . I tend to over do everything. I wont ever worry about it again. I have a bunch of pictures i could email you, anyway its like $900 new and still a rat nest or $40 and safer mo better!

yeah the guy above is right. I got quotes from mazda for $560 main engine and another $680 for the fuse box harness. My 88tii had a engine fire and toasted everything from the injectors back to the inner fender well. I bought some different color wires and heat shrink and loom cover. sat for a teadeous 5hr but seperated every wire bought new pig tails and spliced the whole thing back togetherfor around $40 dollars not bad considering it was a free car to me after the owner abandoned it because of the fire. If you really want new and are willing to spend the $600-$700 to put in a harness right thats new suck up the $300 more and install an after market computer with a harness Haltech are a good sorce to start looking at. T and R racing carries these www.rx7s.com but you should be able to find them cheaper on this web site.

Does Painless make harnesses for our cars, or do they just do domestic stuff?
