Need FC Owner Input Please

The RX7 Revolution is trying to get some ideas for a mini-tech session that we could have for 2nd gen owners during the event.

Could the FC owners post under this thread the types of things they'd like to see? Something that won't take all day (we also want you to drag race).

Thanks!

Mich- I would love to have a wideband 02 so that I could tune my car.

Humm..... I dont know how long it would take but I need an e-fan installed.

I will try to think of stuff that is more reasonable.

P.S- Keep up the good work on the Revolution!!

How to install a T04, E11, BOV, WG, upgraded fuel rail, bigger injectors, all on my car and under 35 minutes...did I forget to mention free?

Rear toe eliminators
Shocks/springs/coilovers
Setting TPS for both series
Upgrading radiator (drop ins shouldn't take you that long)

What would I really like to see?
what I mentioned up top

yo, i would like to see the following:

how to change timing

how to install an apex'i S-AFC, (possibly an AVCR as well?)

how to install a manual boost controller

how to successfully troubleshoot 3800rpm bogging.

and free wideband o2 use.

i think everyone on this forum could benefit from those 5 things. the best part is it wont take you all day to do.

April 25th - 27th. Follow this link for more information.

Please pre-register. It'll save you a few bucks on registration, and it helps us budget for the event.

I'd like to see Atkins show us a real supercharged setup, since NOBODY seems to know that this is a great alternative for moderate power gains in the 200-300HP range.... and is pretty much a bolton on ALL Mazda rotary engines (except the 10A of course).

There booth at 7stock was nice, but damn it I want to see dyno graphs, their projection fuel injected setup, haltech maps & graphs, dyno numbers, intercooler plumbing on the 13B NA engine, etc..

Great suggestions! I'll be sure to mention them when we contact Atkins about the event.

2Gen Specific:
1) Unflooding Procecure
2) Fixing the 3800 RPM Hesitation
3) Identifying and Fixing Leaking Pulsation Dampers *
4) Identifying and Replacing a Bad Propeller Shaft *
5) Fixing a Stuck Sunroof

Non-Generation Specific:
1) Tuning an Aftermarket EMS or Fuel Computer (by Dyno, AFR, and/or EGT)
2) Setting the Wheel Allignment, and How it and Tire Pressure Affect Handling
3) Compression Testing a Rotary Engine

* Noted items are not only handy to know, but could also keep 2Gen owners from getting hurt or totalling their car.

3) The pulsation dampers are the diaphragms on the end of the fuel rails which help smooth out the fuel flow. They tend to leak in their old age (especially on 86-88 models), and the leaked fuel can ignite on the hot engine. This tends to total the car.

https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...threadid=60160

4) "Propeller shaft" is Mazda's term for the driveshaft. The 2gen driveshaft is poorly designed, and the U-joints tend to bind around 80K - 130K miles. Usually you have lots of warning that it is going bad because there is a lot of vibration. However, if you don't fix it in time, it will bind completely, which tends to be quite violent and does very bad things to the car, and maybe even the occupants. The U-joints are not repairable, so the driveshaft must be replaced when the U-joints go bad.

Those are some great ideas, please keep tossing them out here.

If there is an idea already posted that you would like to see, please say so in this thread.

Thanks for the input. We just added a professional PFC tuner for the FD guys, and given the input we are getting here I'm sure we'll announce something for all the FC attendees.

But, don't stop entering ideas or agreeing with someone else's idea. We are still taking suggestions!

I would like to see SAFC tuning on the dyno with the wideband. SAFCs are relatively cheap, and anyone with decent mods that isn't going Haltech (1300 big ones) could use it. The problem is for us in Michigan, we have no place that will tune these things (that I know of).

I would suggest a rewiring fuel pump class (people don't realize they need to do this).

And maybe a tech session about suspension, such as recommendations in different stages. A lot of us FC owners have blown out suspension.

Thanks for the input, I am getting ready to take these and put them into a poll or something soon so we can move forward on trying to get a mini-tech event just for the FC's.

It's basically the same thing, so I don't think it really matters much which year of RX-7 is being tuned, although a turbocharged model would probably be best. Even an S-AFC would work for a tuning demo, although I think that an EMS with ignition maps would be better if time allows.

i have a feeling that there are going to be ALOT of FD guys there and like 3 FC guys. i also think there are going to be all these tuning clinics and such for FD's... i've had 3800rpm hesitation for like 3 months and i have tried a few things to fix it, and i'm sure i'm gonna be sitting there watching the FD dudes tune their PowerFCs while my car wont go over 3800 rpms under a load.
sorry the the bitching, but FD's are alot more popular than FDs, more powerful, newer body style, better handling, faster, i just dont see the FC getting much attention at this event; mainly focusing on the tuning of FD's when there are ALOT of FC's out there that dont even run correctly (ie, 3800rpm bogging, 6PI, etc) anyone agree with me?

I understand your point.

Here is a note, we are trying to make this an all-inclusive event. Not being an FC owner myself (but looking) it is hard for me to know what the FC crowd wants to see, and also what things will attract FC owners to the event. That is why I started this thread.

After I see the things FC owners want I will start talking with techs and sponsors to see how we can make them a reality.

I really appreciate everyone's input and how much help you are giving me with your ideas.

Thanks!
