Need fast answer... oil feed line for the turbo?

Is this the unit that people are using to connect the oil feed line for their turbo? http://www.racingbeat.com/resultset....rtNumber=11802

Looks like it'll work.

I think FC3S.org makes them as well but in neato colors.

If you are talking about what I was telling you before using the RB adapter plate, yes that is the one. It is threaded for oil temp and pressure gauges. Therefore you can use either the 1/8th or 3/8th threaded hole with some piping adapter, home depot has stuff in the plumbing section that fits (I know because I plugged my unused hole in my adapter until its time for turbo), or you can get some NPT to AN ss fittings or something.

Use a 3an or 4an feed line when you do it.

You may also have to add a restrictor inline if the internal restrictor of the Hitachi has been removed.

Oh yeah. TO make your life easier.

Here are adapter plates so you don;t have to weld stuff up.

Just get some AN hose and you've got a nice setup.

Those adapter plates bolt to the turbo and are threaded to hook your turbo feed and return lines to.

He used the second ones as I remember from his write-up for a TII oil return line. Here:

I used both.

I have a 3and feed line with a restricotr inline.
Then I have the 10an return line.

These adapters make it so you can just screw/bolt in the lines without any fitment/welding problems.

Once you get the turbo you'll know exactly what I mean and you'll be very happy about these.

When you order the flanges, do you get 1 or 2?

What does this restrictor look like and where is it's original location? How big of a hole is in this restrictor? Is the original location in the bore of the oil feed fitting in the turbo?

The restrictor is inside the cartridge. The normal opening is the size of a pencil and the restricor is pressed into it.

My turbo rebuilder removed it in a fashion in which he couldn't reuse it.
So I got an external one.(just a step down AN adapter)

So far I haven't had any oil burning/leaking problems since I have reduced the inlet.

That's interesting. I have a turbo upgrade that drenches the intercooler/ inlet pipe, outlet pipe on the turbo. When I put my old turbo back on the problem disappears all together. Put the upgrade back on and it turns into a large oil metering pump and turns the exaust into a bug killer on startup. Removed the checkvalve from the purge valve to make sure it had nothing to do with that. Had the upgrade place take the turbo back apart and they say there is nothing wrong. Put it back on .......oil in the intercooler. Soaking oil in the intercooler. Not just signs of being wet.

The above is why I showed some interest in the mention of the orifice. I don't see that orifice in my other turbos. Way down in the bore on the turbo I do see a smaller hole in a device that runs horizonal. Still undecided on what to do other than getting back with my rebuilder. Just mulling things over.

I had the same problem.

I was pouring oil through the exhaust.

I pulled the 3 mile rebuilt turbo and brought it to the guys.

They took it apart in front of me and checked it out.
It was in perfect shape. He mentioned that the hitachi units center cartridge use a small restrictor in it. He had to destroy it to clean behinds it which he said usually collects crap.

He said that normally he doesn't have problems with this.

So he assumed the high oil pressure of my car was causing it.

So I removed the feed line and make a 3an line.

The problem went away after that until my rear rotor went without fuel.
Then the blowby started the leaking again(not as bad).

I am now open venting the system for testing purposes.(it's a rebuild engine w/65psi rotor faces right now)

First of all, thanks everybody for the helpfull ness.
is "an" equivelant to gauge somewhat?
And is the restrictors job to limit the oilflow? Why not just use a smaller line (sorry for the questions). And one more thing.. Where can I find a restrictor if my turbo doesnt have one?
