need engine harness help
I am putting in my s5 JDM engine in a couple of days and I want to get the engine harness in and ready to go. I have a 89 GXL. I have a JDM engine harness and there are some extra connectors and some missing. If I remember reading somewhere that the JDM harness will not fit into a USM car. If this is the case the USM will fit into the JDM ECU correct? Im getting myself confused on this and I need some clarification.

The jspec harness will fit a US spec car and operate the engine just fine. However, due to it missing one large connector by the ecu, you'll be missing several functions such as blower motor, cruise, wipers, etc. You have to do some rearranging of the harness under the intake to get it to reach, but it can be done, I have done it.
Either ecu, n370, 371, or 374 will operate this engine fine, with either harness.

ok, what if I take my n/a harness and splice in the connectors and the wires that I need to get everything running. Do you think that will do the job? You dont happen to have any pics that I can refrence from do you?
ON an s5, it isnt too hard to make the NA harness work on a t2 engine. You DO need to run a wire (shielded) from the knock sensor in to the proper pinout on the ecu, as viewed in the s5 FSM, turbo EGI section. You'd probably have to extend the TPS wiring, everything else should plug in.
I think Ive explained everything pretty clearly, what do you need pics of? I dont keep pics lying around of these kinds of things.

I keep forgetting to mention having to splice extra length to the tps wires on the n/a harness so it'll fit a turboii. Thanks for reminding me of my ommision. I've done this on a series four, never a series five. On a series four there are but five differences in the pinouts b/t a turbo and non-turbo....and three of those have close to diddly to do with the engine running right.
Do as Hypnt says above. Print the pages that have the Control Unit outputs. For both the turbo and the non-turbo. Then go down the list side by side and mark the differences. Then take appropriate action.
