Why do you people always post messages about your engine blowing up??? Makes me worry! Cant we say nice things like how many miles we have and how good it runs??? Makes me worry cause I have 141k on my TII with the original motor!

I guess its like bonding when something tragic like this happens.
You'll understand once an apex seal gives out on you. You wanna cry and let it out. Don't hold it in cause that will only make the situation worse.

Remember, these cars should be easily passing 100k miles by now.  Add stupid (none?) maintenance into the picture, and you've got a blown engine waiting to happen.  A lot has to do with the fact that these engines EAT oil normally - most people are not used to this, and don't regularly keep tabs on engine oil.

25% of the cars I have seen with a dead or blown engine, need less than $100 to make run fine.

how do i know?
i have replaced the BUtchered engine harness(originally cut to pieces) knocked out the gay cats....... replaced the entire intake to an 89 cuz some idiot blew up the original engine and put in an 87 so i put the correct intake and electronics in.. and yes i have the electric oil MP installed but i am running the mechanical connection(electric pump just sits in the bay plugged up and grounded...... my spark plugs in the front rotor are ALWAYS getting crusted with pitch black soot ......... the car will barely skid tires. and it loves to stall out after i rev it high and let it rest. backfires like there is no tommorow (dashpot doesnt really work but it shouldnt be that bad) oh and the car smokes when i rev high . the engine is probably dead ...oh and the first couple times i restarted the car it was spitting a oil and water mixture.. the exhaust started to spit only only water went away. not to mention the fact that i think one of the oil pump lines stopped working ... installed new ones and it will nat pass oil i had no clue untill the reinstall.... hehe im a goober for not doing a compression test...... no hope for the fallen warrior i would take care of the engine well if i had an ok one to start with. but i bought the car knowing something was wrong but not that bad...

Re: Re: in need of an engine
He maybe right.
Thanks to Aaron Cake who saw my car today. He thinks my car is fine. I don't get it though. Before the car was like popping and back firing like crazy hard to start and it sucked. But now I could start up the car just fine but I haven't driven it yet. I'm gonna get it checked out.

I guess the only way to tell if its blown or not is a compression test.
From what I learned so far the symptomns of a blown engine is the same an engine thats running too rich.
