need to beat a 95 mx-6 v6

so i have my 86 n/a with no real mods. dont they put 147hp to the ground in stock form? i know that that info is in the faq but eh. i am getting my exhaust done tomorrow and am possibly throwing on a cai. the car is stripped with only the door panels dash and seats in it. the clutch grabs nice and there are no mehanical problems. even the 5th 6th ports work like a charm. so you guys think that i can beat a v6 mx6 with just intake? he has a manual too. and its full to the brim with all of the little gadgets. this is just for fun but i have been talking alot of trash(all for fun he is a good friend) and want to show him that my wankel is better. what do i need to add?

Your car put no where near 147 to the ground in stock form. But if you do some mods like your exhaust and some headers and you will probably run with the mx6. I would say big thing is the headers and full exhaust.

I'd just like to appologize in adavance if you meant the MX6 puts down 147.. not sure what it puts down, now that I read the thread again, I don't want to look like an ***.

they put 147 to the flywheel stock, not to the ground. more like 127 to the ground.

yeah i meant the rx was 147 i meant flywheel hp. the mx6 i think he said was 167 flywheel. so 127 vs. 147= mx wins. BUT i have 500 rpm more and a better launch since its rwd. im thinking they should be close cuz i weigh like 600-700 lbs less. i just want to know what elsse i should add with this mod spree so i can make sure that i can at least hang with him.

I think you should take it off the line and basically just keep that lead the whole way. Just to be sure do a full exhaust or at the very least a header. Maybe try praying for good measure.

i have a straigh pipe exhaust(our secret) and a CAI setup on mine......and i plow over Integras, Z28s, V6 Mustangs, and i even stayed up to the door of a 2003 Mustang GT 5-speed from a light. this is without headers, so i think you should get the mx6 by a car length. it all depends on how you shift......you should get him and if you dont then ill kill you....haha jk, good luck.....just lauch at about 4 grand and redline every gear.....easy win.....show him what the rotary rocket will do

i have another q. redline is at 7k, is there a rev limiter at 7k too? the car wont run past that. was thinking that it may be a mechanical problem. or is it the comp doing its job?

that's a big negative bro... i've owned both cars. I had a 94 v6.. engine code - kl03.. 2.5 dohc v6. It has a VRIS system sort of like our 6 port actuation system. Car puts 164 to the fly wheel, probably around 140ish to the ground. They are farely strong off the line, that's most likely where he will get you. Its also geared really short. 3rd gear and 4th is also where it's strong point is.

Given that the VRIS works, he will beat you.. If it doesnt work, then it might be a close battle.. You just better practice your launching. I wouldnt put any money on it if i were you.

Oh btw..

I raced my 88 N/a when it was bone stock against my mx6 (buddy driving it).. It was close, but my mx6 was also on it's last legs.

HP doesnt mean everything, there are other factors that go into it... like weight, gear ratios, launch, etc.

you could always not get exhaust or intake and get a nitrous system. Punch that bitch in third and your gone. 75 shot would be nice. or race him from a roll that would be ugly too.
