To the best of my knowledge, you don't "need" anything more than a dremel to get proformance out of your port... if you need a template to help you port, you can find them @ http://www.mazdatrix.com/toolport.htm . basically, you'll want to go through the normal rebuild procedure, and as with any aftermarket enhancement, to get the full enjoyment out if, you'll want a better exhaust (which you're planning on), possibly ported manifolds/throttlebody, and definatly invest in a dyno tuning after you get it broke in..

I am just getting ready to put my engine back into the car. I rebuilt it over the winter with a street port and the rotary aviation kit, and I was very happy with the quality of the kit. obviously, i haven't tested it yet, but everything seemed to go smoothly, and they were fine to work with..

i'm not sure what the capacity is for the stock injectors but i guess it wouldn't hurt to get a set of TII injectos for a little margin of safety. or maybe just replace your secondaries with GSL-SE injectors.

T2 secondaries. good ecu (preferably stand alone for power, but an s-afc should keep your engine alive). maybe a new fuel pump (may wanna take this time to replace fuel filter as well). you'll definately wanna tune the car, too, after breakin.
