ok i have an 86 NA. it has 190,xxx all stock. i havent had it running since the clutch went out about 6 months ago, but before it did i was having some engine troubles. one night i was out and about having fun with my 7 and i ended up overheating it pretty bad. It was running fine until i got pulled over and ask to turn my car off. after all the cop troubles i got back in and attempted to drive away but my car wouldnt start cause it was still extremly hot. after about 10 more minutes i got it started up and drove home. it ran fine for about a month after that with no troubles at all. then every once and awhile it would randomly stall and it felt really weak, but i didnt notice any signs of a coolant leak. i wanted to know what the engine would perform like if i had it rebuilt. let me know what you think and any tips you might have.

fix ur clutch, start ur 7, if it doesnt start ,pull ur plugs out, and check 4 water bubbles. if bubbles, pull ur morter sell it 4 parts, buy a turbo motor and tranny. if ur 7 is 86 to 88 get that year motor. or sell it and get a t2 ull love it more turbo. good luck. oyeah im not a pro. there arnt too many pros on the site. i just know more power is better. and to rebuild cost about the same or more.

i thought about turbo for awile but id rather have a 13b rebuild, new clutch, and a tranny rebuild with a custom m90 sc setup. i really just wanted to know if its alright to use the motor i have for a rebuild and how it might perform.

190K, you're probably looking at new rotor housings if you want any decent compression numbers (at 186K, mine were pretty well shot).

The side housings should still be usable...

So the above plus a good rebuild kit, and you're back in business. With new rotor housings, expect to hit 120+ psi within about 1500 miles of break in...

i dont knowif it will be alright to rebuild it cause i dont know what internal damage is done. it would have to be pulled a part to see. check rotary ressurection they sell rebuilds for like 1000 it will be about 800 to rebuild the tranny. more than likely it worth about that much. when its finished it will run the same. go for it if u want to, but i would upgrade and have a new car. or buy a t2. i think that would b a waist of money. i got my t2 motor for 600 harness and computer for 200 and a t2 trannyand clutch for 250. leave ur driveshaft and diff for now and ill love it. and save money. it makes more cents to me , u know $.
